Google Ads, Facebook Ads or YouTube Ads: Which Fits Your Business?

How Google Search, Facebook and Instagram, and YouTube ads differ, what each is good for, how budgets work and what to set up before spending.

Google, Facebook and YouTube all sell ads, but they reach people at different moments. Choosing the right one first saves budget. This guide explains the difference in plain words. It is general information, not a promise of results; every market and offer behaves differently.

Google Search ads: people already looking

Search ads appear when someone types a search such as "billing software for shops" or "dentist near me". The person already has the need, so search ads often suit services and products people actively look for. You pay when someone clicks. Competitive keywords cost more per click.

Facebook and Instagram ads: people who might be interested

Meta ads appear while people scroll. They are not searching, so the ad has to catch attention with an image or a short video. Meta lets you choose an audience by location, age and interests, and offers lead forms that collect a name and phone number without leaving the app. They often suit offers that are easy to understand at a glance.

YouTube ads: video before and beside videos

YouTube ads are short videos shown before or beside other videos. They are useful when your product is easier to show than to describe, and for being remembered by people in a chosen area. A clear, short video is needed.

How the budget works

On all three platforms you set a daily or monthly budget and pay the platform directly. An agency or freelancer charges a separate fee for planning, writing, set-up, running and reporting. Ask that the ad accounts are created in your business name, so you keep the history if you change who runs them.

Set up tracking before spending

Without tracking you cannot tell which ad brought an enquiry. Before the first rupee or dirham is spent:

  • Add conversion tracking for the action that matters: a form, a call or a purchase.
  • Send ads to a fast page that matches the ad, with one clear next step.
  • Decide what a good cost per enquiry looks like for your business.

Start small, then adjust

Run a test budget, read the numbers after a few weeks, pause what does not bring enquiries and move budget to what does. A monthly report should show spend, clicks, enquiries and cost per enquiry, read from the platforms.

Our ads and digital marketing page explains how we set up and run campaigns, and the free website checker shows speed and SEO problems on the page your ads will send people to.
